Markup Manager Licensing

  • Markup Manager 3.8 requires a node-locked license. Not supported with SELECTserver.
  • Markup Manager 8.1 requires SELECTserver licensing.
Node-locked License

  1. Obtain a node-locked license from Bentley Sales Support.
  2. For Markup Manager 3.8, place the license in the ..\Program Files\Bentley\PWServer\license directory and rename it to "pwmkp.lic".
  3. Markup Manager 8.1 will not run with a node-locked license. See "SELECTserver Licensing" below.

SELECTserver Licensing
Check the SELECTserver Administrative Interface License List page to be sure your SELECTserver is serving Markup Manager licenses.

  • There is no need for a client side pwmkp.lic file for Licensing Markup Manager through SELECTServer licensing.
  • Markup Manager sends out a UDP call asking the ProjectWise APP servers if they have Markup Manager licenses. The first one to respond is where Markup Manager will get its license from. It will not necessarily get a license from the APP server\datasource you are logging into.
  • To allow Markup Manager to obtain a license from a certain SELECTserver do the following:

    1. Go to control panel > ProjectWise Network > Licensing Services.
    2. In "License Provider for Markup Manager" place the Host/IP name of the ProjectWise APP server that is getting it's license from the SELECTserver that has the Markup Manager licenses. Note: Check the Program files\common files\Bentley shared\license broker\licbroker.lic on the app server to see what SELECTserver it is pointing to.
    3. Use Port 5800 (this would be the default setting).
    4. Uncheck\clear the Prevent UDP check box.
    5. Click Apply then OK.
