This document describes how to use MicroStation with the Accessibility Options in Windows.

First you must turn on Use MouseKeys under the Accessibility Options. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Accessibility Options > Mouse and turn on Use MouseKeys. Click Apply, then click OK to close the window. If the Accessibility Options are not available in the Windows Control Panel you need to install the Accessibility features from the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel.

Accessibility Properties Dialog Box

MicroStation uses the following signals for the button inputs:

  • DATA = Left Click
  • RESET = Right Click
  • TENTATIVE = Left Click + Right Click Chord

To use the Data, Tentative and Reset buttons in MicroStation with the Accessibility Options you need to select the corresponding signals from the numeric keypad.

Key (5) is the click function, but you have to tell MicroStation what kind of click/action to perform.

  • ( / ) key = Left Click (DATA button)
  • ( - ) key = Right Click (RESET button)
  • ( * ) key = Left Click + Right Click Chord (TENTATIVE button)

The action you select ( /,*,- ) is stored in memory until you select another action.

Example

  • To perform a Data action: press the (/) key on your numeric keypad, and then press the (5) key to click.
  • To perform a Reset action: press the (-) key on your numeric keypad, and then press the (5) key to click.
  • To perform a Tentative action: press the (*) key on your numeric keypad, and then press the (5) key to click.

Note: The MicroStation Function Key Menu does not have the functionality to capture a keyboard signal for input. The Data, Tentative and Reset buttons cannot be assigned to a function key.
