To configure the IntelliMouse Wheel as the middle button (the Tentative button), go to MicroStation's Workspace menu and select the Button Assignments option, which opens the Button Assignments dialog box. Highlight the Tentative button, move your cursor to the lower section (Button Definition Area) and click (press) the Wheel on the mouse. Place the cursor on the word HERE to make sure you're at the right location. In the upper section you should see the "Invoked by" setting change to Middle Button. See Figure 2 below.

Issues With MicroStation Losing Focus and Dialog Boxes Disappearing
Description:
It has been reported that MicroStation may occasionally lose focus and dialog boxes may disappear when using an IntelliMouse with MicroStation. MicroStation dialog boxes must have the focus to function properly. These issues have been filed with Technical Support (TR #20829), however this might be something that cannot be fixed within MicroStation.
Solution:
A workaround is to disable some of the StepSavers functionality of the IntelliMouse. Open the Windows Control Panel and select the Mouse Icon. Under the StepSavers Tab turn off the SnapTo, Focus, and SmartSpeed options. These options confuse the focus of MicroStation. See Figure 3 below.
