The following table lists commonly used Hewlett-Packard (HP) plotters and the MicroStation plotter driver to use to produce the best printing/plotting results. See note at bottom for printing/plotting images.
Note: PRINTER.PLT may be used to access the installed Windows system printer/plotter drivers under any Windows platform running MicroStation SE, MicroStation J, and any version of MicroStation V8. Printer.plt is the recommended plot driver file for all HP plotters. Using the vendor Windows system driver in conjunction with Printer.plt will allow you to take advantage of all functionality and features of the plotter device.

Raster Image Plotting
- For best results when plotting hybrid raster/vector files from MicroStation J, use hpglrtl.plt, pscript*.plt, or printer.plt.
- For best results when plotting hybrid raster/vector files from MicroStation V8, use hpglrtl.plt, pscript*.plt, printer.plt, or ripwin32_*.plt.
- PostScript drivers (PS650C.plt, PSC650C.plt, PSCRIPT.plt, PSCRIPTC.plt) also give quality image output, but will create much larger plot files. These files are not limited to just image plotting, as they will plot vector data with high quality also.
- HPGL2 drivers (HPDJET.plt and HP650C.plt) plot vector data very well, but are not recommended for plotting of raster images.
