Installing this driver
Download WTI20R30.EXE from Bentley's FTP site at ftp.bentley.com/pub/tools/drivers/wti20r30.exe.
- Running the executable will create the following files:
- WINTAB.EXE - Installation program
- WINTAB32.DLL - Windows drivers
- TABLET16.EXE - For Windows 3.1x with Win32s only
- DTINOTES.TXT - Documentation
NOTE: The file "TABLET16.EXE" is used only for Intel Windows 3.1x/Win32s installations. It is not used for Windows NT or Windows 95 and is only included in the Intel platform archive.
The installation program will ask what directory should the files be installed in.
The default directory is <yourdrive>:\WIN32APP\USTATION for MicroStation V5, MicroStation 95, and MicroStation SE.
The default directory is <yourdrive>:\Bentley\Program\MicroStation for MicroStation/J.
Configuring the driver
Configuration and setup of the software to access your appropriately configured tablet consists of selecting 4 fields in the "Bentley Tablet Driver" dialog box. The steps are as follows:
- Run "WINTAB.EXE" by double clicking on it from the File Manager or the Explorer, or entering "WINTAB" in a DOS shell.
- Select your specific tablet from the list above
- Select the tablet dimensions
- Select the number of buttons on your tablet's puck
- Select the "COM" port that the tablet is attached.
- Click on the "OK" pushbutton.
Testing the tablet and configuration:
- Run "WINTAB.EXE" by double clicking on it from the File Manager or the Explorer, or entering "WINTAB" in a DOS shell.
- Move the puck around the tablet.
- The screen pointer should track the motion of the puck.
- If the screen pointer does not track the puck motion,
please read the Trouble Shooting section in the included DTINOTES.TXT file.
The tablet is now ready to be used with MicroStation.
Compatability with other WINTAB drivers
Only one WINTAB driver can control a serial port at a time. If you wish to use this driver in conjunction with any other Windows pointing device, plug your digitizer into another serial port. You will be able to use either driver by plugging your digitizer into the appropriate serial port.
For Troubleshooting information, see the DTINOTES.TXT file included with the archive.
