Creating PDF Files via InterPlot when using Adobe Products
There are two ways to accomplish and both are outlined below.
- If you have InterPlot Server or Digital InterPlot and InterPlot Client on the same machine, then you can use Adobe® Acrobat® 5.0 or Acrobat® Professional to create PDF files. When Acrobat is loaded it creates a printer that will automatically create PDF files. You can plot to this printer from within any of the InterPlot submittal interfaces. Note that this printer cannot be shared for others to print to it from any of the InterPlot Client interfaces.
Make sure that the PDF printer is setup as follows:
- Go to Start > Settings > Printers.
- Right click on the "Adobe PDF" printer.
- Select "Properties".
- Click on the "Advance" tab.
- Enable the following bullets:
- Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster.
- Start printing after last page is spooled and make sure the following box is checked: "Enable advanced printing features".
- The second way is to create a shared printer on the InterPlot Server or Digital InterPlot machine that produces PostScript® format files and share it out. To this end Acrobat delivers a PostScript® printer driver, which can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html. Set your PORT to File or create a port using the InterPlot Batch Port to make the creation of the file easier. Once this is done you will need to install the Adobe® Acrobat® Distiller Server software somewhere on your network. This software will allow you to convert the PostScript files to PDF format by using customizable and predefined Job Option settings. Once you have the PostScript file, the Distiller Software can be setup to automatically pickup and process you PostScript files.
