Daylight Savings Time Background:
On March 11th 2007 there will be a new Daylight Savings Timeline in the US and parts of Canada. In preparation for the change, you may need to update some of the 3rd party software that are leveraged by ProjectWise so that they are updated with the most current information dealing with this change.
How does JRE Relate to ProjectWise?
The component used in ProjectWise is the Java Runtime Engine, (JRE). Although Sun has updated JRE versions to include data for the time zone change, we need to use specific JRE versions, which are instrumental in the proper operation of ProjectWise.
** Please note, you need to continue running the following JRE versions. Upgrading to a newer JRE will negatively affect ProjectWise.
- For ProjectWise V8 Edition (08.05.XX.XX), JRE version 1_4_1_01 is necessary for WEL/Web Server and Orchestration Framework.
- For ProjectWise XM Edition (08.09.XX.XX), JRE version 1_5_0_04 is necessary for WEL/Web Server.
These two versions of the JRE do not include the update for the new daylight savings time zones, but they are necessary for ProjectWise WEL/Web Server, and Orchestration framework.
** No modifications or updates to ProjectWise are required
Where can I get information on the Time Zone Update Utility?
A java TZupdatertool is available to upgrade the time zone databases for these versions of the JRE.
