Product: Bentley MXRoad XM Edition
Operating System: All
Document Number: 9996

This functionality is supplied with the MX (bonus) Tools install for XM SU2.

The mfwzMxtools folder will contain:

Quick Print Readme.pdf

SIMPRINT.cfg

SIMPRINT.dll

SIMPRINT.ma

Copy all files to: \Program Files\Bentley\MX CAD Engine\PowerDraft\mdlapps

To implement the Simple Print Tool:

Go to CAD > Utilities > Key In

When this appears, type in simprint start and then hit return.

The Simple Print Toolbar Should now appear as below.

A dashed box will now appear centered on the current display.

Select the scale and page size you wish to print at. The dashed box changes to reflect what you have selected.

Use the Drag button to move the print area around the display. Use the Centre button to reset the frame to the centre.

To rotate the display, use the normal rotate control on the view. The model rotates, not the plot frame.

Hitting the plot button brings up the Print Dialogue.

To get the print out as selected, ensure that Area is set to FENCE, color is set to monochrome (if required), Printer and Paper Size is set to Bentley driver, and the Paper Size corresponds to that set in the Simple Print Tool.

Ensure the units are correctly under Settings>Units.

Hit the Maximize to get the preview correct, and the scale should now be correct for the scale and sheet size.

For example, plotting at 1 to 1000 the scale should be 1 to 1, i.e. 1m on the design equals 1 mm on the paper, plotting at 1 to 500, the scale should be 1 to 0.5 i.e. 0.5 m on the design equals 1mm on the paper.

Then hit the Plot button.

Additional Notes:

It maybe be better to set a HOT KEY to bring up the Simple Print Dialogue.

To do this go to CAD>WorkSpace > Function Keys. Then choose the function key you want to use, e.g. F11, and in the ACTION area, type in simprint start

If you wish to add further Scales or Page sizes, these can be done by adding them to the SIMPRINT.cfg file which is one of the original files you saved, as notes above. The format s fairly obvious.

If you wish to add borders to the plots, just reduce the Page plotting area by the amount of margin you need.
