This TechNote lists the IRASB.CFG environment variables with the variable name, default name and a brief description of what they do. The IRASB.CFG file is located in the bentley\program\microstation\config\appl directory.

Variable Name Default Value Description
IRASB $(MSDIR)/IRASB/ Shows the directory in which I/RAS B is installed, and in which MicroStation will look for I/RAS B when you start the application. Generally, this variable should not be edited.
MS_MDLAPPS $(IRASB)mdlapps/ Shows the directory structure in which MicroStation will look for MDL applications associated with I/RAS B.
MS_MDLAPPS $(IRASB)rasbatch/ Shows the directory structure in which MicroStation will look for the Rasbatch application associated with I/RAS B.
MS_LIBRARY_PATH $(IRASB)mdlapps/ Shows the directory structure in which MicroStation will look for the I/RAS B Dynamic Link Library files.
MS_RSRCPATH $(IRASB)resource/ Shows the directory structure in which MicroStation will look for the I/RAS B resource files.
MS_HELPPATH $(IRASB)help/ Shows the directory structure in which MicroStation will look for online Help files associated with I/RAS B.
IRASE $(IRASB) Shows the directory structure in which MicroStation will look for files associated with the I/RAS Engineer application.
MS_MDL $(IRASE)resource/ Shows the directory structure in which MicroStation will look for resource files associated with I/RAS Engineer.
IRASE_ITEXT $(IRASE)itext/ Shows the directory structure in which MicroStation will look for pattern files, dictionaries, etc. associated with I/RAS Engineer's Text Replacement functionality.
IRASE_FILES_DIR $(IRASB) Shows the directory structure in which MicroStation will look for files associated with I/RAS Engineer.
IRASE_MACRO_DIR $(IRASE_FILES_DIR) Shows the directory structure in which I/RAS Engineer will place files associated with the Macro command.
IRASE_VWSTP_FILES $(IRASE_FILES_DIR) Shows the directory structure in which I/RAS Engineer will place files associated with the View Setup.
IRASE_QTRPAR $(IRASE_FILES_DIR) Shows the directory structure in which I/RAS Engineer will place the parameter files associated with QTR.
IRASE_TEMP_DIR $(IRASE_FILES_DIR) Shows the directory structure in which I/RAS Engineer will place all temporary files.
IRASE_QTRTMPDIR $(IRASE_TEMP_DIR) Shows the directory structure in which I/RAS Engineer will place all temporary files associated with QTR.
IRASE_ITEXTUSER $(IRASE_FILES_DIR)itextusr/ Shows the directory structure in which I/RAS Engineer will place all temporary files associated with InterActive Text.
IRASB_RASTER $(IRASB) samples/ Defines the default directory for I/RAS B raster file dialog boxes.
#IRASB_RASTER_1 ./ Defines the directory structure MicroStation will look in for files associated with I/RAS B's Raster Reference Files.
IRASB_FILTER *.* Sets the default file filter for raster file loading. If you primarily use .cit files, for example, you could set this variable to *.cit.
IRASB_AUTOLOAD yes When set to yes, I/RAS B automatically loads raster reference files when the design file is loaded.
IRASB_CWD $(IRASB) Sets the current working directory to which I/RAS B writes temporary files during operations.
IRASB_IPLOT_DIALOG yes When set to yes, enables the IPLOT dialog box to display when you plot from I/RAS B. If you plot with I/RAS B key-ins, set this variable to no. If you plot in rasbatch mode, set this variable to no.
IRASB_APP_LIST yes When set to yes, the I/RAS B menu is placed at the top level, and I/RAS B is placed on the Applications pulldown menu. This setting is ignored when you run with MGE.
IRASB_TOOL_PALETTES yes Determines whether the I/RAS B design and modify palettes are displayed automatically when I/RAS B is started. This setting is ignored when you run with MGE.
IRASB_DELETE_PLOTFILES yes Determines whether the .plt and .cit files generated during plotting are deleted when you exit I/RAS B.
IRASB_PLOT_DIRECTORY $(IRASB) Determines the scratch directory where I/RAS B generates .plt and .cit files during plotting.
IRASB_START_1 NULL Specifies key-in tools to run when I/RAS B is started. You can specify up to 99 key-ins with IRASB_START_1, IRASB_START_2, and so on.
IRASB_MAX_SCAN 65000 Determines the size of the raster canvas. Think of this variable as the Y axis of the raster canvas in relation to the zero point. The default value is large enough for most operations. You can safely exceed this value (if you get an IRASB_MAX_SCAN error message, for example), but doing so will place larger demands on system resources. If you increase the value, start by increasing it to 100000.
IRASB_MAX_X 65000 Determines the size of the raster canvas. Think of this variable as the X axis of the raster canvas in relation to the zero point. The default value is large enough for most operations. You can safely exceed this value (if you get an IRASB_MAX_X error message, for example), but doing so will place larger demands on system resources. If you increase the value, start by increasing it to 100000.
IRASB_MAX_FG_RUNS 2048 Determines the maximum possible number of foreground pixel runs. The default value is large enough for most operations. You can safely exceed this value (if you get an IRASB_MAX_FG_RUNS error message, for example), but doing so will place larger demands on system resources. If you increase the value, start by increasing it to 4096.
IRASB_CALS_CONVERTER previous Determines which CALS converter opens CALS files in I/RAS B. I/RAS B 6.0 delivers a CALS converter with expanded capabilities. If you cannot open a CALS file using the previous converter, set this variable to new.
IRASB_TIFF_CONVERTER new Determines which TIFF converter opens TIFF files in I/RAS B. I/RAS B 6.0 delivers a TIFF converter with expanded capabilities. If you want to revert to the old TIFF converter, set this variable to old.
IRASB_WINDOW_ICON no Determines whether the I/RAS B product icon appears in the upper left-hand corner of MicroStation windows. This setting is ignored when you run with MGE.
MS_RASTERSCAN no When set to no, avoids duplicate display of raster reference files between MicroStation and I/RAS B

The following variables set up the default I/RAS B environment, and generally should not be modified:

# IRASB_WARP_POOL
# IRASB_RESAMPLE_POOL
# IRASB_BKLOAD_TICKS
# IRASB_BKLOAD_SCANS
# IRASB_UPLOT_COLOR
