Licensed Applications Included in this Install

AutoPLANT Structural is a set of AutoCAD-based, applications that provides structural designers and engineers with a powerful 3D steel modeling, detailing and fabrication tool that will greatly facilitate structural engineering, steel-framed building construction and all shape-based construction tasks and works in conjunction with the other AutoPLANT Plant Design Workgroup products.

AutoPLANT Structural Modeler - Easy-to-use, steel modeling application, suitable for fast 3D modeling of new or existing structures.

AutoPLANT Structural Engineering - Incorporates all of the functionality of Structural Modeler with the added ability to produce detailed frame drawings and comprehensive parts and assembly lists from the completed model.

AutoPLANT Structural Detailer - Incorporates all of the functionality of Structural Engineering with the powerful Detail Center for automating the management and production of detailed fabrication and assembly drawings.

Notice to Existing Users: If you are upgrading from an earlier version of the application, it is highly recommended that you do not install this product over the previous version. You can uninstall older version manually. To update your existing models you will only need to open and save them using the new version. Models saved using this version will also require a newer Object Enabler to be viewable on AutoCAD workstations that do not have the Structural application installed. Refer to the Bentley SELECT download site for the latest Object Enabler.

How to Activate the AutoPLANT Structural XM Edition Applications

Product activation is achieved by connecting to a SELECT Server, receiving verification that your SELECT Server Name and Activation Key are correct, and successfully posting Usage logs. Product activation is not the same as checking out a license. This document describes how to configure AutoPLANT Structural XM Edition applications for activation. After initial configuration, AutoPLANT Structural XM Edition applications automatically and transparently try to activate each time it runs, and runs unconstrained for a period of 30 days after its last successful activation. However, if activation is unsuccessful for a period of 30 days, Structural runs in unauthorized mode with sessions limited to 15 minutes (except when running on AutoCAD 2004 where no unauthorized "demo mode" is available) until the product is successfully activated again.

Note: AutoPLANT Structural V8 2004 Edition applications also work with SELECT Server XM Edition, but do not require the same activation process.

Activating a product using the Product Activation Wizard

The Product Activation Wizard is designed to step users through the product activation process. After a product is installed, you must obtain a license and then activate that license. Obtaining the license alone is not enough to complete the process. This wizard eliminates the confusion and makes it clear that obtaining a license and activating a product are two essential steps.

The Product Activation Wizard opens automatically (unless the "Activate product using Bentley License Tool" check box is turned off) at the end of the product installation process.

You can also access the Product Activation Wizard by selecting Start > All Programs > Bentley > Plant XM > Licensing > License Management Tool.

The first screen of the Product Activation Wizard offers 4 product activation options:

SELECT subscribers with a deployed (local) SELECT Server

SELECT subscribers activating against a hosted (Bentley) SELECT Server

NON-SELECT users

Evaluation Only - No license information

The wizard steps you through the activation process based on the options selected.

SELECT subscribers with a deployed (local) SELECT Server

If you are activating against a local SELECT Server, you must provide the proper Server Name and Activation Key. The Server Name and Activation Key, along with any proxy configuration information, can be obtained from your Site Administrator.

·         Enter the name of the server in the Server Name field.

·         Enter the site activation key in the Site Activation Key field.

·         If you are using HTTPS, enable the HTTPS (SSL) check box.

·         If you are using a Proxy server to connect to the hosted SELECT Server, click the Proxy button and fill in the Proxy Server information then click OK.

·         Click Test Connection to verify the connection to the SELECT Server.

·         Click Next. The Wizard Selections dialog box displays the information provided on the previous dialog boxes.

·         Review the information and click Finish to activate the product.

Important note for System Administrators: the AutoPLANT Structural XM Edition applications require Bentley SELECT Server XM Edition and will not run with Bentley SELECT Server 2004 Edition (V8.5.2 and earlier). Bentley SELECT Server XM Edition can be obtained from the Downloads/MySELECT CD area of SELECTservices Online. Please note that you need to obtain a new license file for Bentley SELECT Server XM Edition. Contact the Bentley Sales Support Center that services your area for information on upgrading your current Bentley SELECT Server 2004 Edition license file.

SELECT subscribers activating against a hosted (Bentley) SELECT Server

If you are activating against a hosted (Bentley) SELECT Server, the Server Name is pre-populated but you must provide the proper Activation Key provided by the Bentley Sales Support Center.
